I use CODE/400 daily. If I need to do a quick change, I will use SEU. To go out on a limb, you could say CODE/400 is like a word processor (WordPro or Word) and SEU is like Edit in DOS or even NotePad. Now imagine the secretaries in your company using NotePad to do their letters and such. They can get the job done. Those same secretaries with a word processor are more productive. The company for which I work did some investigating and decided that by getting CODE/400 they would be saving half a programmer. Don't ask me how they achieved this figure (it was done right before I started). And I know a lot of consultants and such say that SEU is on every AS/400 and that CODE/400 is not. But if you would put CODE/400 on a laptop and take that with you on site, you would have CODE/400. Then you could show off to the MIS people there how much more productive you are. Which would result in more sales of CODE/400. Which would result in IBM improving the product even more! Check out the web site for more info like features and what will be in the new version coming out on Feb 27. http://www.software.ibm.com/ad/varpg/ -- ------------------------------------------------------ Scott P. Jon, Those are some really cool features, and I'm sure as the heck not going to claim that SEU is as robust as Code/400. At the same time, I will say that if someone *requires* Code/400 to be a productive AS/400 programmer then something is wrong somewhere. Booth's message to me seemed to imply that, so I went into defensive mode. He's apologized, so as far as I'm concerned it never happened. I do have one question though. What do you do when you have to make an emergency change to QSTRUP from a dumb terminal in the computer room, because QCMN isn't up yet? <grin> Terry Herrin Sr. Programmer/Analyst New Hanover Regional Medical Center +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to "MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com". | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
