..well, and I don't mean to sound disrespectful at all here as I know you've worked hard over at YIPS (I wish they'd chosen a more inclusive name!) with others on this but up until now installation of open source tools was still painful and relied heavily from what I remember on Michael Perzl's work on porting the packages. This might be fine if you have complete control over your machine or if you've got very patient sys ops, but ours simply don't have the time to fiddle around trying to get these packages installed, and they also don't like to install stuff that isn't properly supported. None of this has given the impression that IBM is committed to open source on the IBM i, although the RPM/Yum announcement might help change that. But that in its self is another example, much as I appreciate you providing the information (and I really do!), why is it I have to resort to looking at your Twitter feed or your company's website to find the documentation (again, no disrespect intended to either!)? It still comes across as being provided by an enthusiastic bunch of non-IBMers rather than a IBM provided feature, even if it is the latter, which can be a hard sell to famously conservative IBM i shops.

Could you describe how you have that perception so we can work to address
it? IBM is dedicating more to open source (including NOde.js) than they
ever have before (my perception). And they're doing it in the open on
BitBucket repos.
