I tried removing the CD from my script and it failed. I added it back into
the script, and it worked.

Early installs of 5733OPS for Node.js didn't add symlinks in
/QOpenSys/usr/bin for the node binary. Later versions add it.

An alternative would be to do the following:
export PATH=/QOpenSys/QIBM/ProdData/Node/bin:$PATH
export LIBPATH=/QOpenSys/QIBM/ProdData/Node/bin:$LIBPATH

Don't know what to tell you.

I had to do the CD in my interactive sessions. Without the CD, it didn't
find the "node" command in the NodeJS bin directory.

I assumed that I would have to do it when submitting jobs in batch as
well. Maybe this is a wrong assumption on my part.

Great! Not sure why you do a CD to the QOpenSys folder though. I never
have to do that to run node or git.

Success!

I set the environmental variable in the start.sh script. The script now
looks like this:

#!/usr/bin/sh
export QIBM_MULTI_THREADED=Y
cd /QOpenSys/QIBM/ProdData/Node/bin
node /dir/sample.js

This worked. Thanks again for all of the help. :-)

Do I need to add the environment variable to the submitted job?

I would think so. Use SBMJOB to submit a CLLE program - set environment
variables there - then call QSH from the CLLE program and pass the
reference to your .sh file.
