Peter,

Regarding security, I embedded a GUID in the link which expires within 1 hour, but I'm not sure if that might be sufficient or not. Any better ideas?

Subject: Re: [WEB400] Getting Into HTML Formatted EMAIL

Nathan,
I presume there are essentially 2 requirement to this. The first being a system that provides for an email to be generated and the second being able to render content as HTML.

My approach to controlling email content is simply to send a notification that is just that, a notification in text format. For further content I just include a link which is a url that points back to the website where any data can be displayed in all it's glory.

Of course if the data is sensitive then there is a authentication hurdle with the "link" approach.
The recipients must either register on the website with a usr/pwd or the link must contain some sort of unique secure token that can be used in a way that prevent users from accessing the associated content via the web unless in possession of the token.

Peter
