I would seek a change of policy. This kind of tug and pull between network administrators and application administrators has been going on for years, and is largely caused by ignorance on both sides about how best to manage application level security. But in the end, I think application administrators need to assert themselves and take responsibility for application level security and not let network administrators encroach on their domain.

On the other hand, application administrators truly need to know how to secure their applications, and be able to take that responsibility, and be able to communicate with confidence with network administrators.

Some anal network administrators refuse to allow the i5 to connect to simple webservices like geocode, or those that might offer weather or exchange rate info etc.
They seem to fear that an RPG program can somehow allow a virus or hacker in.
Anyone know any easy way round this?

Peter
