I paste these not to be a jerk (I don't need no steenking props haha!)
but to show that I did in fact read the pages, I looked at the offerings
and honestly, it's not at all clear that I can download the IBM i
version of Zend Studio and run it for free in perpetuity right next to
my antique WDSC 7.0.
I downloaded Zend Studio for IBM i and read the licence agreement. It
says in part: '1.1. Grant of License ... The term of your license is as
set forth in the Order. If the Order does not state a term, then the
term of the license shall be for a period of one (1) year from the
earlier of your download or installation of the Software. The term of
your license is renewable on terms set forth in the Order or otherwise
as agreed by Zend.'
I didn't place an Order, so this terminology appears to be telling me
that I can use it for a year. Or maybe more if Zend agrees. This is
achingly similar to IBM's stealth marketing of WDSC. Anyway, I
downloaded and installed it. Now I have to learn how to tweak and peak
another IDE. Over lunch probably.
