Chris Laffra from the EGL Rich UI team blogged (complained) about the CPU and memory requirements of Flash:

To be fair, it seems that video streaming and playing is highly resource intensive, no matter what player you use. But when I monitored the CPU and memory use of a Flex-based application recently, I saw that the resource requirements were comparable to a rich JavaScript client running under Google Chrome.
