It makes me wonder how long before social consciousness
is aroused to the point where we start relying more on intelligent
software...
It's not the software, it's the programmers. I'm currently battling
w/the stupidity that is Symantec's Endpoint Protection Manager which is
some f'ed up combination of a custom java app that loads an embedded IE
window and then calls PHP code on the local machine that they were too
stupid to write correctly so it has to run as CGI code in IIS, can't use
the isapi filter. Why did they do this? So it can be cross-platform of
course. But it only runs in windows! If they'd just written the damn
thing as a decent web app in the first place it would be soooo much
smaller and faster.
