Is there a similar feature for .NET or must each user have
installed something before a client can connect to our i?
There is no .Net equivalent. If you want the iDB2Connection stuff you
must have client access installed. However,
1) Why use a thick client? (But putting that question aside)
2) You could extract the i-related stuff and put that on a server and
use web services (or any other inter-process communication method) to
have your thick client communicate with that "communications server" and
then have that server talk to the i. Then only that server would need
Client Access.
