It was just pointed out to me that Java is indeed a platform, as is .net... I would say that, since I was unaware of this distinction, this fact may be lost on other people as well. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Java_(Sun)#Platform

Perhaps a better title for the even would be '.net vs. Java Platform' (or something to that effect).

I will not be commenting on this further.
