Thanks much for the info.
I like all but the RPG and PDM/SEU for server code, the latter because I don't
understand it as code.
I do, however, agree with your methodology of shortest distance between
database and browser. I am also a pragmatist and if your code would provide
an better, faster, cheaper template for me to follow to do what I need to do,
then I can handle it.
But for reasons of performance, scalability and throw in modern, industry
recognized and supported language, whey didn't you pick C instead of RPG. C is
one of the i5 languages and is widely seen and embraced to a far greater extent
than RPG.
For what its worth, the first language I learned was RPG and I used it again in
the mid-1980s. But, I had to move on when I worked with other platforms, i.e.
mainframe, PCs, etc., so had to learn tools and concepts far beyond the closed
world of RPG and CL used most often on the i5.
Well, again, I like your choices for client side code but must rethink the
server side. I wonder if what your doing is more complex than what REXX could
handle? If not, then your code would work across all IBM platforms.

normally divide the server code into three (3) modules, following an MVC design
pattern.
My favorite IDE for client code is Macromedia Dreamweaver. I typically use
PDM/SEU for server code.
I understand you have a low opinion of RPG, but performance and scalability are
high priorities to me, which is my primary reason for using RPG and an
interface that offers the shortest path between the browser and the database.
No application server, no object-relational bridge, and so forth.
