BGP, Border Gateway Protocol. Any decent data center has it. Border Gateway Protocol is a system of peering routers that exchange pre-specified routing tables sharing a common protocol, IGP. The most common application/benefit would be multihoming a network for better redundancy. Typically BGP is done with Cisco's 7200 Series, Juniper M20 Series... When using commercial software the router must have a license for BGP and it needs to be licensed for this feature. It's cheaper to collocate in a data center that does offer BGP, since they already have fiber diversity and are multihomed upstream. Of course this isn't something you're likely to do unless you really
need it, and have the infrastructure to handle it. Well I could certainly use it but the infrastructure is (almost) non-existent. SO doesn't look like it is a solution. I'd never heard of BGP before - guess I should check up on it.
