Dave, Thanks for your advice. However, even adopting Joe Pluta's JSP front-end & RPG back-end approach would be too much for our team to take on all at once (WDSC, Java, OO concepts, ILE concepts - nope, haven't been using these). I almost made it all the way through Joe's book 'WDSC Step by Step' but I was sidelined by a WDSC problem which caused my PC (and my teammate's PC) to crash most un-gracefully. Adopting .NET in our current *climate* would most certainly mean "dead machine walking" for our i5. Greg, There was a very good article a few months back in iSeries magazine comparing the different tools/methodologies/languages for creating Web applications talking to the i5. I can look for it if you like but the gist seemed to be that CGI and the like were the legacy ways of developing Web apps, PHP was quick but got messy when you tried to build complex apps or expand/extend what you started. While there were several other languages discussed, the article seemed to say if your building serious apps and for the long-haul, stick with Java or .NET not only because of their popularity but because they seem to be the most robust, mature and extensible AND you can find more resources for same. FWIW, Dave Odom

I have no experience with AJAX but I am interested in hearing your opinion on different Web development options. I'm new to this list and I've read some of the recent threads. I know that you have been doing some research and some hands-on experimenting. Have you decided on CGIDEV or still looking? Have you looked at other RPG-based solutions like IceBreak, RPGsp, JACi400, etc.? Please excuse me for expanding this thread. Has anyone successfully used AJAX in a CGIDEV2 program? I'm curious as to how to get an RPG program to work with AJAX... Shane
