<snip> >From Aaron Bartell: Shane, if you have Java knowledge I would head down that path. The web tier event driven frameworks are getting better all the time. I don't think I would go with raw JSP/Servlets but actually look into some "pre-packaged" abilities like JSF (Java Server Faces) or Tapestry or Spring (haven't used). </snip> All, Thanks for your responses... I do have a little bit of Java knowledge...and by little I mean I've read the "Java for RPG Programmers" book and have done all the examples and have created some custom classes for our 400 to auto-update an Oracle database...that's about all... We're a pretty small company (around 3000 employees total with around 1500 iSeries users) and I'm the only iSeries programmer...also, by supervisor insists on having the green-screen version of custom apps as a back up "in case the web versions fail"... so, maybe some of you can see what I'm up against... I have had a bit of success in running CGIDEV2 programs on our box I've tried numerous times to get PHP up & running on our box to no avail...I've followed the directions to a T from i5php.net and IBMs instructions and instructions from deloli.net Every time I try to compile PHP I get numerous errors and it all fails...since I'm not experienced with this, it's become frustrating and making me want to give up on PHP... If someone has had success in getting PHP going on a V5R3 box and remembers how they did it and would be willing to walk me through it, I'd be more than happy to try again...but I can understand that that's asking a lot...I'm just trying to break some ground here and WebFacing is not a permanent solution (contrary to what my superiors think)... Shane
