I want to set up Basic > Authentication, but the Basic Authentication tab and the Control > Access tabs are grayed out so that I cannot select them. It's a little more complicated with Apache. Basic authentication in the Apache world is done by "server area". The line right underneath the "Welcome, Setup, Manage, Related Links" tabs has two fields: Server and Server Area. Server Area only shows up if you've got an Apache server selected in the Server field. Anywho, in the server area you can specify the directory that you are protecting, then you will be able to do basic authentication.
