Many more than you think. ...... While I agree that a certain degree of lowest common denominator is essential - V4R2 is pretty old. Are there really that many shops on releases earlier than that that are doing serious development? I certainly don't come upon them - a few at V4R2 and V4R3 but nothing earlier. Why not write the code to take advantage of the newer function and tell people how to handle it _if_ they don't have the capability? Most of my teaching material is done that way and it seems to work well. Also helps people to understand that there is "good stuff" waiting for them if they get a bit more up-to-date. I think this is particularly true when teaching new techniques. Why teach new techniques using "old" tools - it doesn't make sense. Jon Paris Partner400
