Jon, a point of interest is that a good way for a developer to get an AS400
cheap is via e-Bay; IBM Direct is selling 170's there for a fairly decent
price.  The problem is, these machines have V4R2 or V4R3, and the cost to
get current is about 3-4 times the cost of the machine.

Brad, Jon has a point that your books should show the latest and greatest
method, with notes about how to do it in older releases.  Your code of
course should use whatever method is necessary to support the oldest release
you care to deal with.
