Very well said Nathan.  I too am a fanatic of the iSeries and OS/400.  And 
speaking of  the iSeries being the "secret weapon", I wrote an email to Lou 
Gerstner several months ago calling the iSeries IBMs "Hidden secret".  This is 
what I wrote:

Lou, please before you retire, take a serious look at the iSeries line. As you 
know it's very successful and makes alot of money for IBM but the
competition is fierce and quickly gaining ground.

I've been working on the S/38-->AS/400-->iSeries line for 20 years now and have 
watched it's rise and fall.  The problem isn't the iSeries....it can meet just 
about any computing need...the problem is lack of marketing.  iSeries revenue 
is due totally to few software vendors that still have products running on the 
iSeries, and by customers like myself who spent $XXX,XXXX on a new box just 
last year.  I can tell you next time around, it won't be the iSeries I'll be 
looking at if it continues to lose market share because I'll be afraid that a)I 
can't find qualified developers for the box, and b)IBM may  pull the plug on 
supporting the box due to low revenue.

Lou....this really is, or can be your cash cow.  Let's unveil IBM's hidden 
secret!


Within days I heard from Buell Duncan (iSeries General Manager for those who 
don't know him) and we ended up in communication for quite some time over my 
situation.  Buell offered help including an inviation to Rochester for my 
management and I to discuss iSeries futures and directions.  (We didn't 
go...yet)
