The 400 does have native primitive email capabilities, but it would be best if you had a third party package for email. A program called SNDEMAIL is freely available and is open source. This program allows you to send text email msgs along with attachments that must be located in the IFS on your AS/400. SNDEMAIL uses the native primitive email capabilities. Something like Stalker from Communigate(?) would be much better because then you can actually have some control. So what you could do is have them submit their email address to you from the website and what type of report they need. Run your pgm to create that particular PDF report and stick it into the IFS and then pick up the PDF document with SNDEMAIL. Bingo! Again the 400 is not a very good email server without additional software. my $.02 Aaron Bartell -----Original Message----- From: Andrew.Lutz@abbott.com [mailto:Andrew.Lutz@abbott.com] Sent: Friday, May 18, 2001 10:11 AM To: web400@midrange.com Subject: e-mail FROM server to you...... Here is my proposed scenario: On demand from a web page I would like provide the user the ability to generate a PDF file that would be e-mail to them rather than providing them a link to the location of the PDF. Does anyone have any suggestions on the e-mail portion of the task? examples, prior discussions, etc.....
