Hi Daniel,

strangely enough the characters are not shifted in 9.8, but they are in 9.9.

And I agree that they should be removed. I tried creating an RDi plugin
that would do that (asking Gemini for help) but it didn't work.

According to Gemini this is because the editor is in ASCII whereas the
sources are in EBCDIC.

For the time being I'll just rely on the work-around.

Thanks

This shift only looks like that - in fact LPEX tries to display those
undisplayable chars, and fails.

If you press backspace once - it should be only one step.

Best practice is, to remove those color codes completely, as neither RDi
nor VS Code can display it.

Hi Daniel,

the workaround suggested in the defect indeed solves the RNF0257 errors.

I do notice that the comment-lines-with-codes are still shifted one
character to the left: the * is in column 6 instead of 7. Strangely
enough
this doesn't trigger a syntax error, whereas it does if I manually put a
*
in column 6.

But for the time being my issue seems to be gone.

Thanks for the help!

Best regards,

Peter

There is an unresolved issue with the parser:

Also affects sources with national language characters.

Hi all,

I switched to RDi 9.9 a few days after it came out, and I've noticed
some
strange difference with 9.8.

Our RPGLE sources contain lots of coloured comments (using low hex
characters) and since upgrading to version 9.9 these are flagged with
the
errors above when validating or even when editing source. Automatic
syntax
checking is on.

Also the lines where such colour codes are present, are shifted one
character to the left, which I think is causing the errors.

Compilation does work so it's clearly a parser and/or verifier problem.

The exact same source will validate just fine in 9.8.

I compared the configurations for both versions of RDi but can't find
any
difference. FWIW I copied my 9.8 workspace for use in 9.9.

Any clue as to what I can do about this?

Thanks in advance.
