Typically, if you are connected to the Internet, then ‘Check for updates’. If you are not on the Internet and have to get the fixpack zips, then use ‘Install new software’ with the fixpack zips.

I am told that check for updates is the way but I suspect that either should work.

Interesting. That was my first try but it only showed .0.2 updates as best I could see and the instructions were so specific about not going direct to .0.2 without a .0.1 update first.

Which is the preferred update method? CCheck for updates or install new?

Hi Jon,

The easiest way to get to 9802 from 9800 is to use "check for updates". It uses a composite site for updates.

If it does time out (mine did because I left my VPN on), I did check for updates again and it finished the install.

Hi Jon,

did you try to update from RDi - using the "Install New Software ..." dialog? Simply select the RDi repository and all updates should be there.

The repository does offer both versions - I don't know now, if you maybe need to install 9.8.0.1 first, or if 9.8.0.2 does install needed updates automatically.

Hmmm - according to the IBM docs these fix packs are not cumulative. So to install 9.8.0.2 you first have to install 9.8.0.1. Which would be great if you could find it. All the links for that version seem to be broken and either lead to the 9.8.0.2 fix pack or loop on the page in question. Tried searching Fix Central - same problem.

I also tried to do the "Check for Updates" route but it runs for about 5 minutes and then errors out saying it timed out trying to get the files.

Anyone been able to apply this update?

P.S. I'm on a mac.
