Well, the updates eventually worked. I say "eventually" because for both of them it timed out during the downloads the first time. Ran it again and instead of sticking at 50% until it died it ran straight up to 75% and then issued dire warnings about untrusted content and did I want to risk trusting IBM (I was tempted to say no). Once I said to trust everything it ran to completion very quickly.

Isn't it about time IBM did the "certification thing" with Apple? They are about the only manufacturer that I have to manually trust. That includes many companies that are not much more than a one man shop!

Thanks to all for the many suggestions.

Interesting. That was my first try but it only showed .0.2 updates as best I could see and the instructions were so specific about not going direct to .0.2 without a .0.1 update first.

Which is the preferred update method? CCheck for updates or install new?

Hi Jon,

The easiest way to get to 9802 from 9800 is to use "check for updates". It uses a composite site for updates.

If it does time out (mine did because I left my VPN on), I did check for updates again and it finished the install.

Hi Jon,

did you try to update from RDi - using the "Install New Software ..." dialog? Simply select the RDi repository and all updates should be there.

The repository does offer both versions - I don't know now, if you maybe need to install http://9.8.0.1 <http://9.8.0.1/> first, or if http://9.8.0.2 <http://9.8.0.2/> does install needed updates automatically.

Hmmm - according to the IBM docs these fix packs are not cumulative. So to install http://9.8.0.2 <http://9.8.0.2/> you first have to install http://9.8.0.1 <http://9.8.0.1/>. Which would be great if you could find it. All the links for that version seem to be broken and either lead to the http://9.8.0.2 <http://9.8.0.2/> fix pack or loop on the page in question. Tried searching Fix Central - same problem.

I also tried to do the "Check for Updates" route but it runs for about 5 minutes and then errors out saying it timed out trying to get the files.

Anyone been able to apply this update?

P.S. I'm on a mac.
