Well, the updates eventually worked. I say "eventually" because for both
of them it timed out during the downloads the first time. Ran it again and
instead of sticking at 50% until it died it ran straight up to 75% and then
issued dire warnings about untrusted content and did I want to risk
trusting IBM (I was tempted to say no). Once I said to trust everything it
ran to completion very quickly.
Isn't it about time IBM did the "certification thing" with Apple? They
are about the only manufacturer that I have to manually trust. That
includes many companies that are not much more than a one man shop!

The easiest way to get to 9802 from 9800 is to use "check for updates".
for updates again and it finished the install.
If it does time out (mine did because I left my VPN on), I did check
