Hi,

Please contact IBM Support so they can assist you in finding your key. The install of the license key is quite simple, but I know the process of obtaining keys has been problematic.

Install and License keys (where to get the downloads) are the top 2 service calls by volume. Your call will help them understand the path you took to purchase it and do what they can to correct the problem(s).

If you have gone into the Mange Licenses panel, you will need to turn off License Manager before your local key will be recognized.

By default, simply entering the panel will enable IBM License Manager. Go into Manage Licenses -> Click Apply License -> Click the Disable floating license enforcement and press OK.

The problem is:

* I bought a totally new install. (No upgrade) Paid with card. Downloaded 9.8
* There is apparently no way for me to get the license kit for 9.8 through the "Passport Advantage Online for Customers" site I have a customer number (got that when I purchased) but only end up at a silly screen about primary/secondary + business justification that ends up nowhere.

I know I can run 9.8 as trial until august and that I can download 9.6 and use the activation kit for this release using install manager. But as for permanent license for 9.8 I am at a loss.

Also thinking: RDI is just a piece of software like any other. Why on earth does it have to be more complicated that say buying the office package from Microsoft or something. Download --> pay --> get license key --> copy paste --> done!

No - just download the 9.8 - you do not want to go back to 9.6.

If you have recently purchased the product (I hope you got the license with the annual renewal) then you can get the new style key to go with it.

I got myself a new work laptop and found it best to get all new
software for it. Including the latest version of RDI (9.8.0).



Got the trial version and it worked fine. Really fine.



Next step was buying the license pack from the IBM web site. A hefty
sum but hey - got to pay for good tools and for me RDI is just that.



Got the zip file with the .jar file for license import. OK



Here is when the "fun" starts. OK I have to install the "IBM
Installation Manager". Got that one to downloaded and installed. Went
for the latest for Windows i.e. 1.9.2.8



In the "readme" for license install it says, "click on manage
licenses". BUT no matter where I click there is nothing. Totally no
way to "import the activation kit".



I have seen some information about problems with license install on 9.8.



Would it be possible to use my license key package for 9.6 instead if
I downloaded that version?



Alternatively - do I have the wrong installation manager for 9.8??
