I didn’t keep the .zip that I used the other day. I just downloaded again now and got this: RDi_RPG_COBOL_Tools_Activation_Kit_V9.8_LCD8_1989_04.zip. When I double click on this file the P2 file, RDi_9.8_RPGCOBOLTools_AU_Lic_Act_Kit_P2.zip, is inside.

I didn’t keep a screenshot of the error message (I almost opened a ticket with IBM on this). While attempting to activate, I would browse for the download file noted above (using the Archive) button the message stated that the jar was not found; similar to what was noted by OP earlier in the thread.

That’s certainly interesting, what was the name of the contained .zip? I wonder if ESS is packaging up things inside .zips now.

Actually I selected the Archive button. It wouldn’t accept the name of the zip file that was downloaded from ESS. There was another .zip file (the P2 file) contained in the downloaded .zip. That’s the only one that would work using the Archive button.

I suspect that would only be necessary if in the add new software you pressed the Local button instead of the Archive button like the docs indicate?

I had to manually extract the P2 file from the .zip that was downloaded from ESS. Then I was able to apply the activation kit to 9.8.

For 9.8 you just use the activation kit .zip file that you download from ESS or Passport directly (which ever your entitlement comes from). The activation kit does not get unpacked like was necessary for 9.6

The 9.6 license is for 9.6. there is a 9.8 license for 9.8
