The only way I've been able to install iSphere is as a local site. When I
ran the "Check for Upgrade", it found the new version of iSphere, but was
still unable to perform the upgrade. I had to create another local site
and upgrade. Both installs state that the compare filters couldn't be
installed. When I attempt to run the "Compare Source Members" option in
the iSphere menu, it's running something that compares the two source files
and does so successfully. Though it converted all the source to
lowercase. I'm just glad I kept my RDi 9.6 as it was able to perform the
upgrade with no issue and so far, I haven't seen anything in 9.8 that has a
showstopper that would make me want to use it.

Another quick update on iSphere in a clean 9.8 install. By editing the
XML in content.jar and in biz.isphere.comparefilters_5.2.8.r.jar to remove
the lines that requires "org.eclipse.platform.feature.group
4.4.2.v20150204-1700" , I was able to install from a local folder and
everything seems to work perfectly. One of the entries specified "same or
greater version", so maybe that comparison is seeing 4.23 a less than 4.4
(alphabetically)? Not sure, but it is working, so I am happy

Everything I need for daily use is working as expected, so good to go.
Only "pending" item for me is the release of the Spring 2023 ptfs so we can
start using the new BIFs. Right now RDi is actually ahead of the compiler,
which may be a first!

Quick update for anyone else who might be wanting to use these same
plugins... iSphere, SQL Explorer, DBeaver

iSphere:

*** Everything works except Compare if you change update site to:

Important bit here is using the "master dl" path at sourceforge, which
supports https.

Same error when attempting an install from zip.

SQL Explorer:

*** Will not work with an update site, even if changed to the master dl

features and plugins folders in the zip to your existing features/plugins
folders in the RDi install library (with RDi closed).

DBeaver (via Marketplace):

*** Everything installs and works well, after you add a few additional
repositories to satisfy dependencies (thanks Jason Olson):

If anyone has any ideas on the Compare Filter conflicts for iSphere,
please share. If I find a fix/workaround I will share as well.

Happy Wednesday all,

Happy Tuesday All!

First, thanks to a post on this list I was able to install stuff from the
Marketplace after adding a few additional update sites -- priceless!

DBeaver from Marketplace = OK

SQL Explorer via Update Site = 301 error...

...changing URL to https allows me to see the software, but then it fails
to install on "Unable to read repository" errors...

iSphere fails via Update Site = 301 error...

...changing URL to use the master.dl version gets past the 301 errors, but
then it shows the Compare Filters will not be installed for some reason.

...iSphere via Marketplace = 302 error

Happy with the enhanced language support (like *CONVERT), but until we can
get the plugins we rely on working we are holding off on full adoption.

Has anyone else seen/bypassed what I am seeing?

Thanks!

David
