Hi Matt,

On Catalina you will want to do the User (not the default Admin) install
using the IM that comes in the full installer for RDI. I have found that
this seems to work best. The newer IM's *should* work but I have seen
issues with them. So for now I would say use the shipped IM for best
results. Also, install into the default user location
(/Users/your-user-dir/IBM/*) so that your userid has total read-write
control over all the files. After this i Sphere should install from the
Eclipse Marketplace with no issues - at least it did for me.

The RDI installer is quite a few years old now and was made for Mac OS X
Sierra IIRC and Catalina changes things significantly. Right now Big Sur
is a no-go unless you want to do a non-GUI command line install and I don't
know anyone who has succeeded at this so far ;)

Subject: [EXTERNAL] [WDSCI-L] iSphere plugin install failure
Sent by: "WDSCI-L" <wdsci-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

I am trying to install the iSphere plug-in (3.8.0.r) into my RDi (9.6.0.9)
on my MAC (Catalina 10.15.7). I have been having a tough time trying to get
RDi working again after I upgraded to 9.6.0.9. I had to completely remove
RDi and Installation manager at one point – I found out that I needed to do
a user install. I seem to have it working now, but that is all in the past.
The problem now is that I can’t get iSphere to install.

My current messages are about dependencies not being met:

Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could not be
found.
Software being installed: iSphere Job Log Explorer for RDi 8.0+ (optional)
3.8.0.r (biz.isphere.joblogexplorer.rse.feature.group 3.8.0.r)
Missing requirement: iSphere Job Log Explorer for RDi 8.0+ (optional)
3.8.0.r (biz.isphere.joblogexplorer.rse.feature.group 3.8.0.r) requires
'biz.isphere.core.feature.group [3.8.0.r]' but it could not be found

That in itself seems strange since it looks to be a part of iSphere….
The update site I am using is
http://isphere.sourceforge.net/eclipse/rdi8.0/

I have also tried to install it from the Eclipse Marketplace, but I am
getting a certificate error just getting to Marketplace:

com.ibm.jsse2.util.h: PKIX path building failed:
com.ibm.security.cert.IBMCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid
certification path to requested target

I have even manually added the root and intermediate certificates to the
cacerts key file
(in /Users/mwh001/IBM/SoftwareDeliveryPlatform/jdk/Contents/Home/jre/lib/security

), but get the same results. I have a ticket open with IBM and have been
working with them for a while, but I thought I could ask here as well to
see if anyone has suggestions.

Now even install new software to the sourceforge site is getting the
certificate error… ☹
