In any case, I don't have the floating license. We don't have a license
server. I installed an activation kit.

Well, it depends:

If you purchased the RDi from a business partner then they need to order
the
correct version for you. If I understand it correctly, they previously
ordered the one year version for you. They need to update that order to
the
Named User version which is about $1100/$1300 (somewhere in that range) to
purchase, then it's about $300/yr after that for support. Your partner
should prompt you on a yearly basis to renew support. (If they just don't
seem to get what you need, get another partner.... This is too simple to
mess up)

I've not tried it but I believe you can create a profile on Passport
Advantage (or as we like to snidely refer to it as Passport Disadvantage)
and purchase your licenses there. You will need to remember to update your
software support yourself if you do it that way.

Either way Passport Advantage is where you download the code. (one
exception to that but I won't muddy the water with that just yet)

Jim, Jon, how do I make sure we either get the correct version, or purchase
the correct version going forward? Is there a product number, certain key
words and tricky phrases, or special incantation that would mean something
to the business partner that would help them find it?

Just a rant here... WHY is it so difficult to buy software from IBM??
It really should not be this difficult.

What should the cost to renew support for RDi be? We have the
Authorized User License, and our business partner wants to charge us
full price every year. That doesn't sound right to me.
