I don't know that an uninstall-reinstall was needed to be sure. The
certificate chaining error that you show in the link happens when RSE can't
save the cert in the RSE certificate store because when running as a normal
user you don't have authority to do. Generally the work-around is to
start as admin, connect and RSE will get the cert and store it fine then
restart normally and you will be able to connect fine afterwards.

That's what I was expecting to happen.

Keeping in mind that I don't know what affect that your renaming may have
on the ownership/authority of things ... what I would suggest is a couple
of things after restoring.

The renaming hasn't changed the symptoms from the bone stock install, so there's that at least.

First, just simply change the help config to use http rather than https and
see if that works then good, you are done.

That was what it took, but see below.

Also if you look back in the list messages there was some tinkering you can
do with the help preferences to get it working.

For the archives, I had already turned off the ICS Server plug-in. When I went into the Preferences to change the URL of the remote help, I did it in the Help > Content section, not the Help > Remote Assistance section!

So. My working setup:
1) Start as 'admin'.
2) Install the SSL cert.
3) Restart as 'user'.
4) Preferences > General > Startup, deselect ICS Server Plug-in.
5) Restart as 'user'.
6) Preferences > Help > Content, set the URLs to HTTP instead of HTTPS.
7) For each connection, context-click, select 'Use Secure communications', Apply.

I did not touch Help > Remote Assistance. That section still has HTTPS.

Thank you so much!
