Well, I have been told it works correctly on other computers. But, apparently not on our installations.

Something has to be different. Normally, I love using LPEX as the debugger, but then My debugger locks up. Which I have that open PMR# 23733,442,000. I have turn on the trace, to report more information to IBM, next time it blows-up/locks up on me. By "Blow-Up", I mean that I get the "Not Responding" for over 10-minutes. So, I force to manual kill RDI 9.6.0.5. That is NOT a time-saver. OH well, it happens...

Just this weekend, we had a senior developer debugging on RDI. And it brought up the WRONG SOURCE! Ouch!

I have the developer DELETE his i-Project to fix that error. Then I show him how he has to manual exclude searching "i-Projects" for the source. That has burned me BEFORE. Use Green Screen debug! It works everytime WITHOUT FAIL! As I tell everyone. :)

If the source is on the system, why wouldn't you use the source compiled on the system FIRST?!?!?!?! And then if it does not exist, then try searching the off-line i-Projects. Oh well, that is how IBM designed it for whatever reason. That is just how it works. But, I guess you can manually tell it NOT to search i-Projects for a debug configuration. So, I guess we have a "Work-Around". Not a good default in my opinion. Oh well, at least he know now! :)

I wonder if this is a matter of what is supported in the Debug 'Editor' when it comes to *SOURCE vs *LISTING. I for one have never expected *LISTING to support everything that *SOURCE does because it is a 'report' and not 'physical' source. (Hopefully my attempt to make a distinction works 😉 .) For some reason I think IBM has even said this some where in the far past.

Thanks,
Scott Johnson

Thanks Buck! I just wonder why it does not work for me.

Read on, my friend.

So, just to be clear, you were able to double-click on these two lines?

For ef2_max# = 1 to %elem(ef2_dta); // Double-Click does not work...
^^^^^^^^
Return ef2_max#; // Double-click does not work...
^^^^^^^^

When I double click ef2_max# on /any/ line, it does a 'windows -> select word' function. Exactly the same as double-clicking any word in this email does.

In the Debug editor/*LISTING in debugging mode.

I originally compiled as *SOURCE.

I recompiled with CRTBNDRPG PGM(BUCK/KEN) SRCFILE(BUCK/QRPGLESRC)
SRCMBR(KEN) OPTION(*EVENTF) DBGVIEW(*ALL) REPLACE(*YES) then debugged it again. This time, I get the results you see.

It gets weirder.

If I double-click in the 'dcl-s' line, on the 'c' of 'dcl-s', the debug editor highlights 'cl-s ef2_Max# i'

In *LISTING view, the line numbers and statement numbers have different colours. The darker lines disallow double-click. The paler ones allow it, but the clickable region doesn't seem to make sense.
