Greg,

I wished I could help you to solve your update problems or at least
explain why you had these problems. But sadly there is nothing I can do.
I never had problems updating iSphere except for one time when I tried
to downgrade iSphere and update it again. I deleted files from the
"features" and "plugins" folders by hand which made Eclipse "crazy".

The structure of the iSphere update site is a standard update site, that
did never change over the time. There were just new plug-ins added to
it. So that cannot be part of the problem.

Last but not least it is no problem to restore the iSphere library with
a different name on the IBM i. For example you can restore the library
with a version identifier, such as: ISPHERE350.

This way you can hold different versions of the iSphere library allowing
your colleagues to update iSphere whenever they want. They just have to
change the name of the library from e.g. ISPHERE341 to ISPHERE350 on the
iSphere "Library" preference page after the update.

Regards,

Thomas.

Got it.

I had to use "Uninstall" (which only partially uninstalled it).
Then use "Change" to update.

Hopefully it goes better with the next update.

Thanks,
Greg

Ken,

Thanks... but again, I'm running into problems. When I click update in #1 below:

No updates were found in available software sites.
Unexpected Error. Could not process the request. Check the error log for details.

I'm admin on my PC and our Network... I'm *SECOFR on our IBM i

FWIW - this has always been an issue for me.

Greg,

Here are my update procedures.

1.) Update the iSPhere Plugin

Help > Eclipse Market place
Search for "iSphere" and click Update/install

That will update the plugin...

2.) Update the iSphere libraries

window>preference>iSphere>Library

We have three IBM i boxes/partitions running on our Power system.

I enter in our system name or ip-address for each IBM I, and press the big "Transfer iSphere library" button, and loop through the systems. We have it installed on all our IBM i "boxes"/"Partitions".

I *assume* you have authority to update the library.

PS. Next, I sent an info E-mail to all the IBM i Developers, telling them to update the plug with the eclipse market place.

This is always such a chore for me...

How do I update? Last time I installed I did it from a local repository. I would like to just point it to your URL for this and future updates http://isphere.sourceforge.net/eclipse/rdi8.0/

I can't for the life of me figure out where to do that.
