Hey!

I forgot, we can hold down the control key, and we get the underline key. Click on the link, and it takes you to the definition of the variable!

Then we can hit the "Back" (alt+left-Arrow) button in the Navigation in the toolbar. That takes us back to the last line of code!

You could also right click on the variable and > source > Open Declaration too. So, that one is NOT hidden.

I need one of those big posters with ALL of the non-intuitive navigations in RDI! <LOL>

Life is good, if you have enough snickers bars! RDI rocks with Knowledge!

Okay, here is what I was told on my PMR:

After some research and discussion with the developers it seems that the preference option "Display types in hover" is not supported by RDi. The IBM i debug engine does not return type information to the client. The preference only works for the IBM z and AIX debug engines. The developers tell me that they will look into disabling or hiding the option in the RDI case

Oh well, now that I know, I have NO Excuse to complain.

I guess we have to look up the Variable type in outline view. I guess I thought it should work. Because when NOT debugging, I get the pop-up with the variable type. But, in debug, I only get the variable value. Hence my confusion, thinking it would work.

RDI is a pretty good darn product, but we have to learn it's limitations.

Knowledge is Power!

PS. Too bad my employer won’t switch us over to AIX. <Goofy Grin> Just so I could see the type in hover! <LOL>

So, I open an PMR# 54237,442,000 (RDi 9.6.0.4 not showing “Hover types”)
