When RDI works properly, it is the best thing EVER!

Compared to SEU maybe, but RDi/Eclipse is positively stone-age compared to a modern editor like VSCode, for example. Having recently bought a new PC I've just had the dubious pleasure of reinstalling RDi, it's safe to say I can think of better ways to spend an hour or more. Installing or updating anything from IBM is a painful and frustrating processes compared to installing Node, VSCode, Git or just about every other piece of software I can think of.

You have my pity.

I do export my personal preferences, which gets approximate 99%, but not all of the settings. It is pretty good, but NOT 100%

I have to save my old workspaces, to compare and find setting that I have missed.

And with each release, things that worked in a previously release. Suddenly stop working in the new release.

Oh well, I need to get "Use to this"...

Like you, I do NOT have the time to open PMR.

I should not be surprised; all the vendors I work with do the same thing. Not just IBM. I have to "PROVE" that their software is broken. I have to be their "Beta-Tester". And yet, my Microsoft boss requires me to do "Code-Coverage" and RPG-UNIT like they do in the Microsoft world. Something called "Quality-Control".

Sorry, I have jumped off that bandwagon too! So, anyway, you are NOT the ONLY ONE, who encounters these problems.

When RDI works properly, it is the best thing EVER! But, when it is NOT stable, not functioning properly, it can drive anyone nuts...

Clear cache, restart, reboot, create new workspace, start with -clean. It is easier to do that, than be a beta-tester for the vendor.

Sad, but true. At least it takes less time...

Isn't' RDI a "wonderful Time Saver"? <sarcasm> When it works, it is the best! But, when it fails, it cause me to pull out handfuls of hair!

Maha,

I can open a PMR provided I'm not asked to recreate and/or delete my workspace... this seems to be the "goto solution" for everything. I do not have the time to recreate all of my personal preferences, filters, user actions, etc.

I opened a PMR for this very issue several versions back... the issue was not resolved.

Most of mine are not **FREE. Sometimes they are the old fixed format

I am curious to know of those that report the outline sticking at 66% are these programs coded in **FREE,SQLRPGLE?

I have seen more parser problems using **FREE.
