So what you're saying (ken and matt) is that the problem is not likely on the IBM i side?

The usual recommendations are to go to the preferences search for the word cache then clear all the IBM i related caches.

On the short cut for RDi add the parameter -clean for at least one start up or if it does not slow down the startup time leave it there. I create a second short cut for this purpose and use it only when I want to clean my workspace.

If none of these seem to solve the problem then create a new workspace without copying ANYTHING from your other workspace and see if performance improves. If not then it might be time for a PMR.

Running the latest version of RDi... some of the performance issues I've seen in the past have become so bad that it's nearly unusable.

1. I can't expand QRPGLESRC in RSE views... it stalls while downloading

2. Live parsing stalls at 66% - I have to close/restart RDi

3. Simple searches of small source members can sometimes take several minutes

The list goes on. It seems to be related communications between RDi and the IBM I (located about 20 yards away on the same Ethernet network).

Everything else on my Laptop is fast... For the most part, everything on the IBM I is fast.

How do I go about diagnosing this problem? What can I look for on the host side?

Like most of you, I really don't have the spare time for this.

Thx,
Greg
