Previously, as directed by IBM, I did a User-Install. Which install RDi in my documents, where I had 100% authority...
This time, as directed by IBM, we installed in the program folders. Did a complete uninstall of IBM installation Manager and all versions of RDI.
I was hoping it was an authority issue. When I tried to run as administrator, RDi completely freaked out with my change management plug-in. I was hoping that it was an authority issue. NOTE, I have been using the Turnover plugin since 2008.
I edit a lot of code, and somehow the back-ground thread gets hosed up. And of course it is completely random, no way to repeat it.

Definitely a problem with RDI 9.6.0.1, no doubt about it. But, how to repeat it????????????? It is completely inconsistent when it decides to lock up.
Restarting RDI every 5-15 minutes completely solves all issues. But, that is an absurd fix. I guess I need to bite my lip, and get use to that solution.
Sadly, I expect it to be half way stable. <Bad Ken>
Several restarts, and bring TEMPLATES up is IMPOSSIBLE. I had to actually go into TEMPLATES. Open it up, and copy the template. And then go back to my code to paste!!! WTF! That is not a timesaver!!!
The most frustrating part, it is completely locks me out of editing my code. Which is 99% of my job.
When RDI works, it is the greatest thing EVER! But, when it locks up, it is the WORST thing ever! Completely breaks your train of thought....
Oh well, still better than SEU, I guess...
For the longest time RDI 9.5.1.2 seems stable starting every time with -clean, which took 3-minutes to start up. So, restarts took 3-minutes too.
PS. This is a company Laptop, running Linux is NOT an OPTION. But, maybe a virtual box/machine might be something I have to consider. But then I would need a license to install that. And the help-desk will ask why?

Subject: Re: [WDSCI-L] RDI 9.6.0.1 templates/ code-assist / hover errors and more errors...
Don't know if you have more problems than other users, or whether you stress the software more than most, or whether you are just more vocal...
I know others have wondered if it is the mix of software you are using.
On that front, have you considered creating a virtual machine and running RDi, and only RDi, in that? Then if it is stable, adding in your other software one at a time until you get to the "5 minute restart"
instability? I realize this might require significant effort.
And another thought might be to run RDi on Linux. Again, might be a lot of effort.

Hi,
Using RDi 9.6.0.1 and the templates seem to no longer work. I open up PMR# 89869,442,000.
Why oh why, do things that use to work, now stop working in a new release????
I am doing my "Beta-Tester-Duty" and have open 4 PMRs already...
Where is the IBM testing on new release? Should things that work in a previous release work in the new release? I thought this was stable. But, a new so called "RELEASE" and/or fix pack is NOT that. Certainly not with un-working functionality...
Code assist does not work in procedures? Even though the outline is built!
Hover-tips do not working, even though the outline view is built.
On split screens, the LPEX editor locks up. Unable to edit the code...
Completely random, flip a coin, sometimes it works and sometimes it does not...
The "fix" is to start RDI 9.6.0.1 every 5-minutes! Glad it increases "productivity". You have to restart it, to clear errors? Wtf?
IBM had me do a complete uninstall of everything, including the installation manager. So, this a brand new install, and nothing but one issue after another...
I was hoping that fix-pack-1 would resolve this.
