Biggest problem I have with this, is it seems dependent on 1 source module
== 1 service program...

Sure that's not uncommon, especially for those new to ILE...

But doing so throws away one (IMHO) critical feature of ILE.

The ability to have "protected" procedures callable only by procedures in
other modules within a multi-module service program.

Without mult-module *SRVPGM, all you have are "private" and "public"

With a separate header file for the PRs...I can have a single one for the
*SRVPGM and that service program can be made up of whatever modules I need
it to be.

Here is an example.

Called program:
/if not defined(PrototypesOnly)
ctl-opt Copyright('(C) Copyright Group Dekko Inc.')
ActGrp(*NEW) ExprOpts(*RESDECPOS) DatFmt(*USA)
OPTION(*SRCSTMT:*NODEBUGIO:*NOUNREF) EXTBININT(*YES)
BndDir('ROUTINES/SRVPGM':'QC2LE');
/endif

dcl-pr GDSMBOM1 extpgm;
INPPart char(15) const;
end-pr;

/if defined(PrototypesOnly)
/eof
/endif

Calling program
/define PrototypesOnly
/include QRPGLESRC,GDSMBOM1
/undefine ProtoTypesOnly

Not seeing it on my end. I personally find compiler directives a better
way to bring in prototypes from the actual target program source, rather
than use /copy books to a source member with just a prototype in it

What compiler directive is it that will bring in prototypes from
the actual target program source?
