I created a brand new workspace for RDI 9.6. I didn't try clearing the cache, because I was scared to death of losing all my many hours of hard work! That is the LAST thing you ever try to do, when trying to recover your code changes that your Editor lost for you!!! Ouch!
I never thought/suspected that RDI 9.6 would NOT allow me save my source! Ouch!
But, looking at the error log, it wipe out my source member and also wiped it out on the IBM i 7.3 too. Panic sunk in, at the thought of losing all my hard work at refactoring the code and doing massive updates!
It appears by looking at the error log, it WIPE out the member, but saved a temporary member RSE____.sqlrpgle. So, I discovered eventually, that I had all my changes in that temporary member. But, I did not realize that right away....
I cut & pasted the source from LPEX, and tried to save it RDI 9.5.1.2 and that failed too. Which I was using for a backup. But, people freak out if all the source dates are changed. Which happens if you cut & paste into a new member. It resets all the dates. The Microsoft developers laugh at our punch card format with dates.
So, eventually using the RSE______.sqlrpgle member, I was able to recover many hours of hard work. Never had to do that before with any version RDI.
Who would suspect that LPEX would NOT ALLOW you save your changes????? Certainly not me! Excluding connection and/or security errors. Which I had NEITHER!
Oh well, I sent the error logs to IBM on PMR# 86064 442 000 RDI 9.6/RDI 9.5.1.2 unable to save source.

Do you happen to be using the same workspace for 9.5 and 9.6 when you see this issue? Does clearing the cache make any difference?

I save the source for the other PMR I will open in December on Unable to save my source using both RDi 9.5.1.2 & RDi 9.6. Neither one works. But, SEU allows me to change and save my source... Oh well...
