www.squirrelsql.com, version 3.8.0. rocks!
I have tried to use the IBM Data Studio, but it drives me absolute NUTS, since it is so hard to navigate. While Squirrel SQL has a simple gui interface.
To speed up squirrel, I turn off the autoload of all the schemas. And love the Bookmarks for frequently run sql statements with pop-up-prompts!
The only thing I use IBM Data-Studio is debug procedures, that is the only part that is better. And I grab screen shots to show the Microsoft People. It put them at easy to see a "GUI" screen-shot of the stored-Procedures. <LOL>
Plus I can squirrel for Microsoft Stored procedure testing to call Microsoft Stored-Procedures. They are migrating from db2 to Microsoft SQL. But, it is better, because they have timestamps. <LOL>
Our old legacy tables stores numeric date/time, rather than timestamp. And you would think it is the end of the world, because they do not have a timestamp.

I'm a little spoiled. My SQuirreL client gives me all the properties for jt400 in a GUI that I can just edit. I found that list, but didn't check it too closely.

It does Justin - the problem is that it is focussed on method calls etc. on not just on how to specify properties on the connect string or via the RDi Data Source Explorer interface. For instance is it "auto commit" or just autocommit. It seems the latter is the correct answer. This link https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/ssw_ibm_i_73/rzaha/conprop.htm <https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/ssw_ibm_i_73/rzaha/conprop.htm> is actually a bit easier to understand as it appears to be written for IBM i folks and not for non-i folks using the JT400 tooling.
I think I now know what to specify and how - all that remains is to get the bleeping stuff to actually work!
