Except that neither Netbeans nor Visual Studio Code can handle IBM i programs!

Ah, ok, I'm not sure I always get a dialogue when I get disconnected, I haven't had it for a while but I remember the silent failure problem as you described. I feel your pain though, I have a love-hate relationship with RDi, especially as I have to pay for my own licence. The other editors I use daily are Netbeans and Visual Studio Code, both free and way ahead of RDi unfortunately. Still, it's better than SEU I suppose.

Tim,

Thanks, my connection was NOT dropped...

When my connection drops, RDI 9.5.1.1 at least lets me know with a user friendly dialog, and ask me if I want to "reconnect"...

Yes, with RDI 9.5.1.1 "Restart-To-Work" software, a Restart seems to fix it.

But, I got no errors, and no notification. No nothing!

This usually happens if the TCP/IP connection is dropped, even after the IDE tells you it's reconnected it still fails silently to recompile. In RDi go to your IBM i connection, disconnect and reconnect and it should work again.

Subject: [WDSCI-L] RDI 9.5.1.1 Unable to get compiler Errors...

Hi,

Using RDI 9.5.1.1 and iProjects....

Opened PMR: 6116,442,000 Unhandled Exception and sent my entire error to IBM.

The NUMBER ONE reason I use RDI 9.5.1.1 is to Edit & compile Code.

My steps on iProjects:

1.) Push all CODE. Right-click REMOTE ACTIONS > Push Selected (At the Project level)

2.) Submit Build. Right-click REMOTE ACTIONS > Submit Build (At the Project Level)

3.) Check the job to finish

4.) Retrieve Errors. NO ERRORS! No Error Log, no Errors reported, no dialog or pop-up!

My code is not working, and it is not taking effect! Check the object, and it is NOT COMPILED!
RDi gave me no compiler errors.

Try to right-click the code and compile, and I get "Unhandled event Loop Exception"...

Guess what? I had to goto PDM, and use that compiler to get my code Compiled? Why doesn't RDI 9.5.1.1 compile my code, or at least give me an Error list?

What type of IDE does not allow you to compile code and get your error list?

List of summary errors, after I open the IBM Error log, to debug their software:

Internal Error. Unexpected exception

Now, I did not get a pop-up until the very end, which prompted me to look at the IBM Error Log, which makes no sense to me. These are NOT user friendly messages. No suggestions for recovery or anything else...

And of course IBM asks me "what I was doing?" Answer trying to do my job edit and compile code!

Hopefully, they can find something in the error logs to telling what the heck is going on. I just created a new workspace about 10-days ago!

Why can't RDI work reliable? Or least let me know, instead of NOT letting me know the code did not compile? Since this is still "beta" I guess I have to do side by side testing with SEU/PDM to verify the Results? Really? Is that what I am supposed to do?
