--Several years ago, I had the need to run SQL and export large datasets to Excel.
--I tried many plug-ins and none could handle the large datasets.
--I came across Quantum and it was able to handle the large datasets and export them to Excel.
--At some point I did try the Database Perspective and it could not handle the datasets either.

Scott, were you unable to use the Database Perspective because of the default "Max row count" of 600?

Preferences->Data Management-> SQL Development-> SQL Results View Options.

The preferences page includes the max row count and max display row count options.
If you have Max Row Count set to a number other than Zero, then any statement you run may only run over that many rows.

I eventually found this preference after my update statements would only affect a subset of the data.
