Thank you for this tip - it is one of the best I've seen. I paste
code from iSeries Navigator all the time and really dislike the way
it left adjusts all but the first line and the error messages for
each, and then having to do a block move. I set up a user key action
as you suggested and it pasted my SQL in perfectly, right where I
wanted it. Thanks!
Yep, in most cases I am very happy with it, too.
But, occasionally, I wish there was a "pasteBlock" action that
would do what the "paste" action does except align all pasted lines under
the text cursor the way "pasteOverlay" does. Meaning.... If what you are
pasting doesn't match the paste target exactly, then you have to manually
add enough blank lines before you perform "pasteOverlay". So, when I get
in this situation (i.e., forgetting to add blank lines, first) I end up
having to do Ctrl-Z to undo the paste, then add the blank lines, and
finally Alt-P all over again before I am happy. ;-)
That said... What I *really* like about "pasteOverlay" is that it
doesn't stop pasting at the bottom of the viewable area (as green-screen
pasting does). In fact, "pasteOverlay" will even add blank lines at the
bottom of your member if it reaches the bottom of your member before it is
done pasting everything from the clipboard.
Sincerely,
Dave Clark
