Thanks for the link, Kevin - looked at some of the points to examine-

DDM server is started on IBM i
There don't appear to be any firewall issues locally
Should be no authority issues with server program - QRWTLSTN is the
program it is listening with - *PUBLIC had *USE
Job description is QDFTJOBD - it does exist

When I try the "Verify connection", and get the message that connection
to record access fails, I ran

netstat -a -n | find "my ip address"

I see that port 446 is in TIME WAIT

I just tried to connect again - Port 446 is in TIME WAIT on the IBM i,
too. Ports 8473 and 8475 show as established.

OK, later
Vern

So that's where it's at now.

Subject: [WDSCI-L] Record Access connection failing - how to diagnose

I connect to a couple different systems. I'm using 9.5 and also have 9.1
on my laptop, my problem occurs with both versions.

One of the systems gives me an EVFA1020 dialog when connecting - host
servers not started. The other system does not have that problem.

And on the verify connection I get the report that "Connection to Record
Access server failed".

First, what is the port used by "Record Access server" - I suspect 446,
but I can't find THAT name anywhere, Googling or KnowledgeBase or
whatever.

Finally, we need some help analyzing and determining - logging is set at
minimum, I see that EVFA thing mentioned, no details.

I've wondered about local port blockage on the laptop - corporate
policies on it - but that's a WAG.

The result is, I can open members for browse and I CAN'T open for edit.
And I do NOT want to even think about editing in SEU! Fully-free does
not play well there, as you know - basic understatement there!

Regards and much thanks
Vern
