At work they are enforcing a lot more "firewall" rules.

After using firefox for 10-years. I cannot use firefox at work anymore. Search for "RPGLE", and it gives me "Security" check. And I have to accept a "Security Certificate". But, that started over year ago...

It does not happen when I use firefox at home, with my work laptop. Which tells me they are doing something on their network. <smirk>

Sadly, I have no idea what they are doing with the network. Only know I didn't have as "MANY" "not responding" with RDI 9.1.1.1.

I wish I had a way to narrow this down. It seems to go away when I turned off Live-Outline-view. But, just now I turned it back on. So, I will see how it goes...

It is shame, my employer has paid for RDI for all IBM i/RPGLE developers, and only 1/2 of them even have RDI installed. And then others won't update. All due to extra time crunches... <frown>

When they hear use RDi Users screaming "NOT a #@$!#$!#$@ AGAIN! Why RDI CRASH AGAIN!!!"... I guess I cannot blame them for not trying RDI...

But, with my current work-load, I DO NOT know how I could do my job WITHOUT RDI...

Oh well, maybe I can extract more information on the next crash to send to IBM support. And I hope finally track this down! <smirk>

Jon,

Nope! My workspace is my local hard-drive.
C:\Users\<user-Profile>\IBM\rationalsdp\workspace

Sadly, this is the only tip of yours and Susan's, tips that I do NOT follow. To put somewhere else, like:
C:\Workspace... <LOL>

I am using my work laptop, that I remote into from my desktop. Plug in my Dell E6510 in the dinner room, and remote from my dual screen Desktop. <smirk>

At home I am using VPN...

When at work is your workspace on a network drive by any chance Ken?

Had clients a few years ago where that was a huge issue speed wise - and that was before the extra workspace traffic that auto-update on Outline would cause.

Just a thought.

Crap! I guess that "Update outline View..." is VERY IMPORTANT for other features...

Windows>Preferences>Remote Systems>Remote Systems LPEX Editor>IBM I

Checkbox: "Update the outline view when text is changed in the editor"...

If that is UNCHECKED, I lose the following functionality:
1.) Sort outline view Alphabetically
2.) Filter Text
3.) Hover tips for field size

Shoot! I have gotten use to all those great features!!!!

I thought I could "live" without "Live Outline view Update". To "hopefully" prevent "Not Responding" crashes....

Strange, working at home, I got a LOT of "Not Responding", and RDI
actually caught up! It did NOT lock up like it does in the office!
<Strange>

My home internet is a merger max of 60 mps, while work is "capable" of
10-Gigs. Although I sincerely doubt it is that fast! <LOL> I do have a
"1-Gig" cable at work. Don't know about the internal cables. <smirk>

The only common thing I *THINK*/*ASSUME* it is the "Update Outline View...".

It seems, turning off that feature STOPS THE CRASHES.
I just miss the Filter on the outline view, that only seems to work
when "Live Outline View..." is turned on. <frown>
