Greg

I have to say to be sure you are on the latest group PTF for HTTP - the web Navigator is better and better as we go along.

As for ACS, as Ken says, this is IBM's direction for the client - and they are working on getting the functionality in place - ACS will soon have the SQL statement processor.

For Ken and the keyboard map - you can still map your keyboard the way you want - the maintenance is not in the same place, though, and it doesn't have the pretty graphical maintainer that iSeries Access has.

As to startup of ACS, there might be command line options that can help - just as there are with RDi. I've not tried those, yet.

I do get some odd behavior from time to time in ACS - I'm using the multiple session style and generally like it - Ctrl-wheel moves me between sessions. Sometimes it sticks, like nothing responds to anything. I can't get a macro to run, then I'll click somewhere and it may or may not release.

The kind of thing I will report and know that everyone will benefit. I don't remember if IBM take requests for ACS changes through the RFE process that is used for RDi, it certainly would get to them through COMMON requirements (http://requirements.common.org) - bugs, of course, should go through support channels you have.

This IS the direction IBM is going - they are working continually to improve things, and I think they ARE better all the time.

You're right about Windows 10. But ACS does not have navigator... you have to use the browser interface, which is terrible.
It's incredibly slow on startup.
It has no install (or remove).

And please forgive me, but I can't stand most java applications - they are so finicky.

It is different, and the new navigation takes a while to learn. Change is hard...

My only real complaint is it does not start up as fast as the old client Access...

But, we will be going to windows 10, eventually. And from what I understand, client access won't run on Windows 10, but ACS will!

I initially hated it too. Only because I missed the keyboard map. But, once I got use to the new navigation, I like it. Still have more to learn.

ACS is a real piece of junk (IMHO)

Yes!

A.C.S. Access Client Solutions, an 100% Java Solution!
<Big Smile>

And SquirrelSQL.org, which also uses Java.

Do NOT know if they are "Big Java Applications" or not... <puzzled-look>

RDI seems to use its Own "IBM" Java... <LOL> C:\Program Files\IBM\SDP_1\jdk\jre\bin\javaw.exe

My folder "SDP" contains RDI 9.1.1.1

My folder "SDP_1" contains the RDI 9.5

Thinking out loud here... are you running anything else that's a big Java application?
