One thing to remember about ALT+Z is that where you "paste" the results becomes the next block-highlighted code that you can use to ALT+Z into another location. What this gives you is that you can paste in code make changes to the block selected text and the copy that code to another section of code. I have used this in code sections where I post screen fields to DB fields before performing DB puts and the reverse for getting DB fields to screen fields.

Thanks, Matt

Subject: [WDSCI-L] Column Copy/Move/Paste in RDi

In a separate thread for a broader topic, there was discussion about column
(rectangle) copy/move/paste in RDi. This was a feature I could never figure out the several times I wanted to use it in RDi, so I always ended up going back to SEU to do it.

Alt-C kept confusing me, equating it to Ctrl-C's function. I also was getting tripped up by the three paste options. So, I've written a little cheat sheet, and thought I'd share it here. (Note that the "Pasting"
section lined up using a fixed font.)

Column Copy/Move/Paste in RDi

Alt-R to mark the first corner, then
Alt-R to mark the opposite corner
(this completes the "copy" part, like Ctrl-C does in normal Windows)

Alt-U to deselect selected text

Pasting:
         Shift or Delete Original selection
           at target? deleted?
 Alt-C Shift No
 Alt-M Shift Yes
 Alt-Z Delete No
