Joe,
There are 2 flavours of outline view. The new dynamic "live" outline and
the old static outline. You are in the static outline if you ONLY have the
refresh button. You can switch between them (without resorting to a new
workspace) by going to preferences->Remote Systems->IBM i->Program
Verifier->ILE RPG
If you are in the new outline view, the menu on the outline view itself
will take you to this preferences page.

I went old school and opened a new workspace, and it's fine there. So
there's something munged in my workspace. I well and truly hate when
that happens.

My sort button is still present in the outline view, and I am definitely
on 9.0.1.0.

Yes, I see buttons for Error List. I see buttons for everything EXCEPT
the Outline. And in the Outline, I see the refresh button, so it's not
like there are NO buttons. Just not the sort tool icon. This is a real
puzzler.
You're sure you're on 9.0.1.0 and not 9.0.0.1?
