I have been using the FREE RSE Extension from Softlanding since WDSC 6.0.
Currently, I am stuck on RDP 8.0.3, I uninstalled 8.5, because the memory Link drove me nuts!
I had RDI 9.0 until the 60-day demo ran out.
Anyway, try this:
Window>Preferences>Remote Systems>IBM i>RSE Extensions
Try clicking on the "ADD" for spooled File subsystem on that "RSE Extensions" View. That might work. You should NOT have to restart Rational Developer. But, if you still don't have the view, then maybe try restarting Rational Developer.
(Assuming that you have already installed the Softlanding RSE Extensions, that is FREE!)
I also have been using Softlanding for over 20-years! Great product. If you happen to use Turnover, there is a minor tweak to get it to work in RDI 9.0. This is only because of the name change, yet again by IBM... <Puzzled-Look>
I assume that you only using the RSE Extensions.

Hi group,
I installed Rdi 9.0 today and of course want to use the IBM I Editing perspective included in the RSE extensions from Softlanding.
However, for some reason the perspective is completely blank.
The messages and spool files plugins do work when I navigate to them from the RSE Explorer view.
I tried it with a new workspace, using a copy of my WDSCi 7.0 workspace, adding "-clean" to the startup command, all to no avail.
Second problem is that the I get an error "Unable to start Local Help Updater" every time I start the product.
Has anybody experienced (and preferably also solved) either or both problems?
