Jim,
If you have an authorized user license (instead of a floating license), you
can install the product on multiple machines.
From the license text:
Authorized User
Authorized User is a unit of measure by which the Program can be licensed.
An Authorized User is a unique person who is given access to the Program.
The Program may be installed on any number of computers or servers and each
Authorized User may have simultaneous access to any number of instances of
the Program at one time.
The cloud instance is a virtual machine so your workspace would be on that
machine. You can transfer data back and forth. Keeping your workspace
updated on the virtual machine is no different than keeping it updated on
any other machine (using Rational Team Concert makes this easier). The
virtual machine would need to VPN to your work just like you are at home.
As for response, we have found it fine but you will need to see how it
works for you. When you create a cloud instance, you choose which data
center it is hosted at (I think there are around 7 to pick from). So,
picking one that is close to you and your work will have better response
than picking one on the other side of the world.
Thanks,
Eric

Not sure if it would help in my case, but I have been dragging a laptop
between work and home for the last 4 years, and running WDSC/RDPi on it
when I need to. Now I'm giving the laptop up, but still want to run RDPi
from home occasionally. I don't think the license I have will let me have
RDP installed on both my office PC and my home PC at the same time with the
same license. I don't want to pay for my own license for home, and the
boss is not thrilled about buying another seat for occasional use at home
when I'm VPNed in once or twice a month.
Other questions are - where is the work space located, and how do I keep it
updated? Is it in the cloud as well? What kind of response would I expect
to see if using the cloud instance?

Jon,
Just thinking aloud here, but I'd expect VERY LARGE organizations would
find this attractive. If the IT department employs many developers, some
of whom may work remotely, this would be a perfect alternative to their
having to send their computing device back to home office for install.
Probably not as attractive for small business, but still useful for
large
accounts... This would be even more helpful in cases where Rational Team
Concert is cloud hosted.

Yes, the current RD Power image is under the Bring Your Own License
model.
There are other models, such as Pay As You Go, where you do not need to
have already purchased a license (the hourly charge is higher). But,
currently RD Power image only provides the Bring Your Own License
option.
OK Eric - sorry but now I'm confused again. If I own a license to RDp
_and_ need a PC to access the service it seems to me that the only thing
I
gain is that I'm saved the trouble of installing the software. The cost
of
that convenience is that instead of setting up RDp, I have to set up an
account etc., "rent" the server that runs the image, and, since that
server
is Linux, I will need to be (somewhat) familiar with the Red Hat
interface
to use it. I know cloud computing is trendy but I just don't see why
anyone
would bother.
Can anybody else see what I'm missing here?
