Xuan,

I use completely separate workspaces for both RDP 8.0.3 & RDP 8.5.1

By debug a production job, I actually mean this:

1.) Open Perspective "Debug"
2.) Menu: Run>Debug Configurations
3.) Under "IBM i: Debug job
* Set up Debug job for a Production job. (Debug a job, by entering in the job name...)

I haven't been able to duplicate my Error message:
Unable to restore directory source lookup entry - missing path attribute.

All this was done on my old Workspace, which I temporarily switch back to my old Work space...

RDP 8.5.1 workspace name: WorkSpace_8_5
RDP 8.0.3 WorkSpace Name: workspace803_demo_10_31a
Note: I did a demo on RDP 8.0, and create a new "FRESH workspace" for the demo.
On October 31th, hence the suffix "..._demo_10_31a..." <grin>

PS. Let me know if I can provide any more any more additional information. I normally clear my Error-log every so often. Because most errors I can easily re-create...

Hi Ken,

Is this workspace used in RDp 8.0.3, and you also used it after switching to RDp 8.5.1?

And what do you mean by debug a production job? And what is the startup steps for your debug session (Setting a service entry point, and then run, or Debug as -> IBM i job).

Could you send me the screen capture of your message?

Thanks,

Hi,

I tried to debug a production job again today, and I got this Error

Sounds like some setting or something is amiss inside my work space...

So...

I create a new workspace, and it now seems to work. Yippee!! Which I could just correct the problem. Because now I have to redo all my customization.
Filters, colors, preference, etc...
The hardest thing is remapping my customized shortcuts keys...

Visual Studio has an Export function for preferences...

Yes, I did copy workbench setting. But, that is the easiest one to remap....

Is there a way to set customized settings & Preferences?

Hi,

I had to debug a production program, and RDP 8.5.1 would NOT find the source, when I went to debug the job...

I even specified the source file to use again...

So...

I open up RDP 8.0.3, and that worked perfectly! Just how I remembered it!
No problems at all. I wonder why RDP 8.5.1 get's hung up on trying to find source for debug? And yet, RDP 8.0.3. does not have a problem! Yeah!

This hints that there is a bug with this RDP 8.5.1.

OH well, maybe the next service pack will fix it.

PS. Normally, I use the "IBM I Service Entry points", and that seem to work great! But not the good old "Debug Job". Strange.

Hi,

Using the RDP 8.5.1 to debug a job, it CANNOT find the source....

But, using the Service entry points, it DOES find the source....

Any idea why the debug job cannot find the source. I even tried adding the ibm source file, and it still cannot find the source....

I get the "Source not found" and the "Edit Source Lookup Path..." button...
Which shows my source files...

Am I missing something here?

I have always used IBM Installation Manager to initiate the installation.
Seems to do the trick without a hitch. Worth updating IM first to the latest version, (free download).
