Stuart,
I just wanted to mention that in RD Power 8.5 there is a new cache
expiration preference (in Preferences, Remote Systems>IBM i>Cache). When
using the cache, if the item the product finds in the cache was queried
from the host longer than the cache expiration setting, it will be queried
again and refreshed if it has changed. With the preference, you can set
how long is the setting. So you can set it to be 1 hour if that is what
makes sense for you and then the Outline view will always have data at most
one hour old without doing a Verify.
Thanks,
Eric

Same here, tried it a couple times but didn't see any remarkable benefit
that a compile wouldn't give me. I never work offline. A compile is
usually quicker and doesn't tie up the editor. The only time I use it is
to update the cache like every hour. It's so out of date all the time that
the outlines are less useful with stale data.

Hi Jon
Believe me, we are well aware of the strong desire of certain people to
run
on Macs :-)
It turns out that your are in good company and 2 of our architects run on
Macs as well.
As you astutely pointed out, having the RPG rich editing independent of
PV
means we can get that function on the Mac without porting those native
DLLs.
1) This is only part of the problem. We need to get all of our
dependencies to support Mac. However I am hearing some good news on this
front.
2) I was under the impression that Program Verifier is still important
functionality. Are you saying that you would get the same error feedback
from compiles and that you don't really see PV as critical function?
How do the rest of you feel about the importance of Program Verifier?
